How can I pay for my membership?

What if I forget my password?
Click on the I forgot my password link on the login screen. The Poets Tree will e-mail your password to you.
How can I cancel my membership?
You may cancel your membership at anytime. Your cancellation will be effective at the expiration of your membership. You need to contact Paypal to inform them of your desire to stop the debit from your credit card. If you need the transaction number, just contact admin and we will be happy to assist you. At the expiration of your membership, all of your poems will be deleted from the site, but reviews that you have made for other poets work will remain on the site. There are no refunds on subscription fees. Cancellations through PayPal before the end of a subscription term won\'t affect your Website privileges.
How can I add my biography and a photo to my profile?
Simply Log-in to the site and go to my Profile. There you can add or modify personal information about yourself, post a photo, change your Password, etc.
How do I find the poem that I just published?
You have two choices: On the Home Page, simply click my Portfolio. Your poem will appear in your list of published poems. You may also use the Search function on the Home Page. Just be careful to spell the name of your poem correctly!
How do I delete a poem from the site?
Simply go to my Portfolio and click the Delete button for the poem you wish to eliminate.
How can I deal with reviews that I think are unfair?
All members need honest feedback to improve their artistry. Sometimes though, feedback may be more harsh and hurtful than one might like. It is perhaps best to ignore such reviews and simply ask your reviewer to avoid your work in the future. You also have the ability to respond to the reviewer publicly if you desire. You may also message the reviewer privately. Or as a last resort, you can block a particular reviewer from reviewing your work, or from contacting you through your private message mailbox
How can I report abuse on the site?
We do not actively police the site for content or abuse. Any abuse, including unethical or unacceptable behavior, should be immediately reported to the administration for prompt action.
How can I protect younger visitors to the site?
The Poets Tree is committed to protecting sensitive younger readers, but we need your help. When any new poem is published, we ask the author to rate his poem on a scale of 1-4 for content relating to sex, violence, and language. A rating of 4 means that the poem contains adult content that may not be suitable for some readers. You can easily adjust your Internet Explorer settings to prevent access to this content:

When you publish a new poem on the site, you will receive 6 narrative reviews from other member poets who will read and evaluate your work. Each time you review a poem, the recipient of your comments will rate the quality of your review. Authors will seek you out for your valuable feedback on their work; and more often than not, they will return the favor by reviewing your work.
You will discover, that both reading and reviewing others work is an important learning aid that will help you improve your own skills.

How many times can I resubmit one of my poems?
You can resubmit your poems for publication as many times as you wish. The cost for resubmission is 2 Poets Tree Coins. Your poem is guaranteed a minimum of 6 reviews each time it is submitted.
How can my poem reach Poem of the Week?
The published poem that receives the most Diamond Awards in the preceding Week will be The Poet\\\\\\\'s Tree Poem of the Week*. The weekly Contest ends at 11:59:59 PM EST on the 7th of the month, the 14th of the month, the 21st, the 28th of the month. Winners are announced the following day. The winning poem will be displayed prominently for 7 days, until the next weekly winner takes its place. Remember, you may resubmit your poems as often as you wish.
* The winning author is eligible to win The Poem of The Week Contest no more than once in any 3 months period. A winning poem entry is eligible to win the Poem of the Week Contest only once every 90 days. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the first one who accumulated the winning number of diamonds during the week.
How can my poem reach Poem of the Month?
The Poem of The Week may continue to accumulate Diamond awards. The Poem of the Month* is awarded to the Poem that receives the most Diamond awards in any given calendar month. The winning poem will be prominently featured on the site until the next Poem of The Month winner is announced.
The monthly contest ends at 11:59:59 PM EST on the 28th of each month.
* Entrants to the Poem of the Month Contest are limited to one win per 3 months period. In other words, 90 days must pass between 2 winnings.
How will I be acknowledged as a reviewer?
The author of each poem you review will award from 1-5 poets Postmarks depending on how helpful your review was. You accumulate Postmarks of approval for your reviews that promote your standing as a valuable reviewer on the site. In addition you will receive 1 Coin for every 8 reviews that can be used to submit more of your own original poems for publication.
How many people will read my poem?
Your work will be read and appreciated by members from all over the world. Each time you publish a new poem you will receive a minimum of 6 reviews from fellow members. Soon you will develop a loyal following of friends and readers who appreciate the quality of your work. When your name becomes associated with the glitter of many Diamond awards, no doubt you will be discovered by new readers who will want to explore your award winning talent. Can I submit a poem that has been published elsewhere?
Yes you may, as long as you are publishing your own original work.
Am I limited to how many poems I can publish on the site?
As long as you have Poets Tree Coins you may publish as many poems as you wish, but you are limited to the publication of no more than 3 poems per day.
Why isnt my poem on the New Publications list?
First, we are able to showcase only a limited number of poems on the New Publications list. Poems are removed and placed into the authors Portfolio as soon as they receive the 6 reviews we guarantee. All writers are anxious to have their new publications read, and are eager to receive reviews for their artistry. Your poem will be added to the New Publications list as quickly as others are cleared from the page. Why not take some time
to review the work of others and help to move the process along? You will receive 1 Coin allowing you to publish a new original poem for every 8 New Publications you review.

The content of some poems offends me; what should I do?
We do not actively police the site for content. Poetry is a subjective art form where the author expresses his own intensely personal views. We do however, reserve the right to immediately remove any content that we feel does not promote the image of the site as we define it. Members are advised to pass over any authors work that they feel is objectionable.
Does the Poets Tree have writing contests?
Yes, we have a contest for Poem of the Week, and Poem of the Month.
How can The Poets Tree guarantee reviews for my poem?
The Poets Tree has many dynamic reviewers. When you publish a new poem, it is immediately put in line to appear on the New Publications list. A variety of incentives on the site will encourage members to review your work promptly, giving you honest narrative feedback that will help you to improve your artistry.
Where does my poem go after it has been reviewed?
After your poem receives 6 reviews it is removed from the New Publications list. It is then permanently added to your personal Portfolio. Your poem can always be found by other members by using the search function on the Home Page. The search feature allows users to view a specific poem or your entire Portfolio.
Can I reply to a reviewer?
Of course. You are invited to write a public response to the reviewers comment about our poem. You are also asked to rate the quality of the reviewers comment about your work. Did the reviewer provide you with helpful feedback to help you improve your craft? You also have the opportunity to send a private message to any other member on the site.
